Creating the Perfect Instagram

Instagram is one of the most used apps in the world and clearly everyone loves it. Instagram was built as a way to quickly upload photos with a small caption to let your friends know what you were doing, but since then it has become so much more than that. Now people use it as a way to brand themselves and show off their creativity. I have definitely become guilty of trying to create the perfect “theme”, but it’s not as easy as it seems. After scrolling through some popular Instagrams and doing some research, I have found some tips to having a “perfect” Instagram.

Themes

Instagram themes have become a thing. If you want an example of an Instagram theme check out Jaden Smith (@christiaingrey) or Evelina Berry (@evelina) and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. Creating an instagram theme is about all of your pictures having a similar look. This can be anything from using the same filter on all photos to choosing a specific color to have in every photo, or adding a white background. You can create what you want to be your theme and that’s the best part. But just remember that by creating a theme, not every picture you like can be posted if it doesn’t fit in with the others.

Editing

If you don’t already use filters on Instagram, now is the time to try them. Although Instagram offers several filters, sometimes they aren’t the right fit. I suggest downloading some apps to help you edit your Instagram photo. A very popular one right now is “VSCO”.

Timing

Whether you like to admit it or not, we all care about the amount of likes that we get on our Instagram pictures. If you are ever wondering why your photo might not be getting a lot of likes, think about the timing. For example, if you post a picture at 2 A.M. you’re probably not going to get as many likes as a photo posted at 2 P.M. because most people are sleeping at that time.

Caption

Whether you choose to caption with a bunch of emoji’s or not to have one at all, captions are always important when posting on Instagram. If you’re ever stuck on a caption, song lyrics are always a safe choice (just don’t be basic). I have one suggestion.. Just DON’T overdo the hashtag!
